We aim to bring people together through artistic events, raise money and awareness for important issues and causes, assist local organizations who are doing vital work, and build up a supportive network of engaged, considerate artists (and audience members) who value art as a powerful tool for positive change. We consider everyone who has worked with us or attended an event a Fool for Life.

HOW WE GOT STARTED
The Fools began as a group of theatre nerds sitting around a dinner table, discussing how to get involved in the world-wide #Shakespeare400 event that took place in April of 2016. A few dozen artists banned together to accomplish our first project: a month's worth of Shakespearean-themed events spread all over town. Events ranged from play readings and movie nights to pub quizzes and game show competitions. Artists from Tulare, Hanford, Selma, Reedley, Kingsburg, and Merced helped us out. Since then, our little troupe has expanded to well over 100 members. We continue to invite anyone with a love for art and community to join our ranks.
OUR COMMITMENT TO EQUITY
The Fools commit to being diverse, inclusive, and equitable. Our goal is ensure that the partners, volunteers, and artists we work with, as well as the community we serve, always feel valued and respected by our organization. We highly regard diverse life experiences and perspectives, so we welcome hard conversations and appreciate authenticity. The 'collaborative' part of our organization name is not something we take lightly. Everyone who works with us has a voice that we consider valid and vital to our work. In all of our projects and undertakings, we strive to evolve and unlearn our own internal biases, even as we teach others.
