Art at the intersection of community and philanthropy.
Hi there! We're The Fools Collaborative (formerly The Motley Fools). We are a group of visual and performing artists in the Fresno area who produce creative events for the express purpose of bringing awareness to, and raising money for, an assortment of community, charitable, and social justice-orientated causes. Our events are always free or low cost, unless specifically conducted for fundraising purposes. We love creating immersive experiences. As such, you can find us performing all over town – in bars, restaurants, parks, libraries, churches, backyards, and pretty much anywhere else people will have us. We love creating art, we love meeting new people, we love fighting the good fight, and we sure as heck love Fresno, California.
HOW WE GOT STARTED.
The Fools Collaborative began as a group of theatre nerds sitting around a dinner table, discussing how to get involved in the world-wide #Shakespeare400 event that took place in April of 2016. A few dozen artists banned together to accomplish our first project: a month's worth of Shakespearean-themed events spread all over town. Events ranged from play readings and moving nights, to pub quizzes and game show competitions. Artists from Tulare, Hanford, Selma, Reedley, Kingsburg, and Merced helped us out. Since then, our little troupe has expanded to over 100 members. We continue to invite anyone with a love for art and community to join our ranks. Whether you participate in one event, or volunteer for everything we do, once you're a Fool, we consider you a Fool for life.
